This site was not developed for figure competitors.
Instead, it was developed for Figure Athletes.
What's the difference, you ask?
A Figure Athlete is a woman who's actively building her body — primarily through building muscle and losing body fat — into its leanest, sexiest, most-curvaceous state that she can sustain, year round.
Let's be clear about that last point: Unlike the figure competitor who's in "contest shape" only a few days out of the year (and often heavier much of the rest of the time), the Figure Athlete is ready for a photo shoot literally with a few days' notice!
That doesn't mean this site won't help you develop into a champion figure competitor, if that's what you want. We feel comfortable in asserting that there isn't a better source of information on the Web or on the newsstand for building beautiful bodies.
But why would you want to be a figure competitor? There are many compelling reasons to become a Figure Athlete instead. Here are three of those reasons:
You want to do it for yourself and feel great about your appearance and leading the healthy lifestyle of a Figure Athlete. You want that great body to be the body you live in year-round; not just something you "pull out" for the occasional show.
You want to utilize your figure as an advantage in getting into modeling, acting, or representing companies as a spokesperson.
You enjoy competition. You want to see how you compare to the best, and use that information and experience to become even better. Whether competing for a modeling or acting job, or simply competing with yourself in hitting a goal, you enjoy the feeling of accomplishment.
Some Figure Athletes may choose to enter amateur or professional figure contests. Due to the political nature of organized competitions, we believe this endeavor is hugely problematic and not nearly as financially rewarding as competing in the modeling and acting world.
Furthermore, history tells us the judges will eventually favor the more masculine physiques, which is completely opposite of what Hollywood and the modeling industry want to see.
For these reasons, we want to encourage women to be careful when choosing to compete in figure contests. Most often, the most-marketable physique won't win. And conversely, if you have a look that wins figure contests, you simply won't get the best modeling jobs.
Instead, we encourage women to go to the next level, to join those that will ultimately be the highest-paid physique athletes on the planet, to become a Figure Athlete!
